Southwest Missouri | It was not an easy or quick decision.
Ultimately, I decided that I wanted to be treated a certain way. That is, I wanted a decent amount of respect for doing a good job.
I was in my early 20s. I did not want to be 40 and have to find a new way to earn a living. The egg industry was changing. The producers like us were going by the wayside. It was becoming more expensive all the time. I think the egg company owns all its buildings today. I wanted to make the change on my terms and my schedule.
One of the things I learned in business classes and in life is that the best people have more options. If you make things difficult for employees, then the best are most likely to leave as they have more choices. | |
