NE Iowa | How does your vet charge for preg checking. About 3 years ago they switched from per head to per hour. About $90 an hour no matter what they are doing. They used to have a set fee for every procedure no matter how long it took and any meds / vaccines they used were severely marked up in price. Now there meds price is very reasonable and charge per hour. I like the way they do it now. We have decent facilities and am always ready when they show up so it is probably saving us money. Helps pay for the facilities. How does your vet charge? Also, my cows are actually too tame that they refuse to stick their head in the headgate. They usually slowly walk up to the chute but stop right before the headgate so 95% of the cows get preg-checked with just me standing behind them and no other restraint. Goes really fast and no one has ever gotten hurt but does anyone else have this happen? | |
