Manure and cover crops help address many of the above stated P problems in Ed's link. A goal here is to have 'optimum' inorganic soil P and a 'soil bank' of a crop's worth of P in the organic fraction.
Put down the P the soil needs not what the crop needs...'farm it' as long as you can!
