“These are the times that try men's souls.” | I would try and keep frame size of bulls the same that you turn in together. You run the risk of hurting a small bull with larger ones. I injured a $ 5,000 yearling bull this spring by putting him in confinement with two year old in feedlot. I was told by a old timer to put an odd number of bulls in, that way when two are fighting, one will be breeding. I never really thought bulls fought as bad in fall as they do in spring.
But if I didn't have anyplace for the bulls, and they have plenty of room might put them all together. I'm curious if you would update us when they calf. I have felt that if I thinned bull power down i.e. more cow to bulls I got a little higher % heifers to bull calves close to 60% in my milk cows in dry lot corrals.. But I run a consistent 50/50% with 1 bull to 25 cows on beef cows be it tough range conditions to feedlot confinement. |
