middle TN | Some info i have read reccomend feeding as a 1-1 replacement for corn, however the slightly higher energy in hom. comes from greater concentration of oil as opposed to ground corn. The higher fat might be an issue for lactating dairy cows in the event DDGS,whole cottonseed, or other feeds with free oil are also being fed. Sometimes it can be cheaper than corn, sometimes not, seems to vary quite a bit. I think there is some variation in quality of hominy from mill to mill. I wouldn't be scared of it if you can get a deal, just need to know what you are getting.
