All this simply reinforces my thinking that our Dairy Industry would be in a better position ( right now ) if they had not trasnsitioned away from mostly grazing for feeding. From what I hear the Managed Grazing Dairies are still mostly showing a living profit.

I have seen and heard of Cow Calf Operators who are doing better than average with managed grazing. Though a number of them must use trucks to move the herd from one 500 acre "paddock" to another.

I have a neighbor with mostly stockers who moves his cattle to a new pasture with trucks. I kid him about his cows lining up to get on the trucks, out in an open pasture.

Fellow in Arkansas his cattle get to the gate of the next pasture before he can drive there in his PU.

Smaller beef producer pulls the mineral box to the next pasture. What ever pasture the mineral box is in is where the ladies hang out. His an old cotton farm returned to grass.
