West Kentucky | How many other businesses work on the concept that they are price takers so they must insure that they produce a crop as cheaply as possible. This payment comes to the farmer but it is designed to create over production which insures (subsidizes) the customer will be able to purchase cheap food. This is one of the few govt programs that works. I don't see how any farmer should feel guilty for being smart enough to insure a profit if they live in an area that would make that possible; however, I wouldn't be out shouting it on the mountain tops either. | |
