Subject: RE: alum frame on truck

Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA
There are LOTS of Peterbilt and Kenworth log trucks with aluminum frames. They are tougher than some guys give them credit for. That said, I have broken an aluminum truck frame. It was on a semi tractor; the straight truck with a 20' box and hoist had no frame problems. When the engine in that truck (a '59 Peterbilt COE) needed work, I pulled the box and hoist off and put it on a '73 Kenworth with an aluminum frame. No problems there either.
