Subject: RE: Just a bad year?

N.W. Illinois
I went to a crop insurance info meeting last week in DeKalb County. The crop insurance companies head crop adjuster was there giving a heads up on what to expect for yields this fall. His prognosis was IL yields will be mostly bad to awful. Yes there will be areas with decent crops but the vast majority is horrible. The adjuster has followed the crop all the way up IL this summer walking 100's and 100's of fields. His thoughts were most of N. IL is going to suck too. When you have fields yielding zero bushels p/acre it's hard to bring up the county average. My experience is any time you have corn dieing in July and August it's not good.
