Subject: Has anyone grown spring wheat or barley in the eastern US?

Martinsville, Ohio

With the shortage of grain for feed, I and others have been wondering about attempting this but don't know if or how well it can be done or if there is even seed that would work.

This year we could have planted in March and harvested by now but this was one unusual year.

Many wiped out by drought one, two, three or more years are considering options, I am sure.  I think I remember seeing spring wheat or barley in NY or northern Pa but not sure about areas like mine to say Va or DelMarVa.

What comments or advice do you have?

Thanks,

Ed Winkle
