Central Iowa | You are correct 190 is out of the cards although at the time of that post it was not contrary to what you believed. I think 150 is low for my current estimates right now but it is a conservative guess to the low side. I think we are realistically actually at a 170 but I havn't been out in the fields for 5 days so I leaned pretty conservatively. We are definitely losing yield but it is a little difficult to get a handle on. I believe this next 4 day stretch will do a tremendous amount of damage. Once you start reaching a certain crop stress level it is very difficult to get a handle on what you are losing. Things are really starting to fire in areas which obviously isn't a good sign but we aren't fired to the ear leaf yet. One thing I do know is whether you're a bull or a bear it's time to put the ego's to bed and hope the industry finds a somewhat painless way to get around this short crop. | |
