Woodham, Ontario | I tell people to try to take the same paths as much as possible. Easy to do in corn silage and cob meal, but in haylage it is harder. But we do have a dedicated "lane" along headlands in the middle of the farm around the bush behind the barns. every cut they completely destroy the alfalfa there and it always comes back! Just shows you how strong it can be.
I have read somewhere, don't know where... (yes, i should back this up) That the first pass causes the most compaction, every pass afterwards causes less compaction. So by using dedicated lanes the overall compaction is less. Spreading it out looks nicer because you equally destroyed everything... | |
