Subject: RE: Poll - Combine value per acre

Pasco WA.
I am paying $60/ac with a chopping head. 275+ bu average yields. I furnish a cart, tractor, and driver. Custom operator also has a cart. Trucking is extra. At 22,000 bu per day it takes 15 days with a 9770 and 8 row chopping head. I can't own and operate a 9770 with chopping head for $72,000/yr when you add up all of the costs. Would also need another cart and operator. The custom operator is a friend that farms in a later area. Neither one of us can justify a combine of that caliber by ourself. So having him do my harvesting is working well for both of us. I don't have to repair combines and he had a job for his sons. Win win deal:)

A machinery link combine would end up costing about the same as the custom.
