You can still use the iPad (at least I assume so, because I can do it with my iPhone that way). Once you start a new post you need to click "Use Basic editor". Then you type the html in by hand. It's not the easiest thing, but it is possible. Might be easier on the iPad because you may have more keys available on one screen without switching back and forth between screens to get the <> symbols.
