New London, Wisconsin | The old guy that used to own my farm, before the crook I bought it from, told me of his 1978 or so 237 bushel per acre contest winning land. I found out much later his 10 acre contest plot was about 26 acres. Before buying this place I lived an hour north of here where yields were measured by gravity box model numbers. Boy were they proud of themselves. It all got fed to cattle so nothing was ever weighed and verified. I saw one of them claim yields of up to 200 bu per acre on stuff I doubt made 80 over the scale. | |
