I think we were having a hard time realizing how bad the corn is because it looks good from the road. So it appeared to be normal until we got through pollination and went looking at ears. I think now as people get out and look at things many more will realize how bad this is. There is a post below from a farmer in WCIL that shows a good looking field with good looking ears in the husk. But when the husk is pulled away and we look at the pollination there is a different story to be told. I know people pollinate earlier the further south so us more northen farmers did not have a frame of reference. Until the pollination process played out it was impossible to finger on how good or bad the corn crop may be. If it had been cool during pollination even with the lack of moisture we would have been OK. Not great but OK. The pollination process is just coming to a close here so there wasn't proof that things were bad.
