| Steve, I looked at 2 different fields yesterday. There is some poor pollination on the bottom sides of ears, an occasional one that is maybe 20 percent pollinated, and some ears that are only 12 around. The worst thing to me is that they just don't seem "right" for the kernel counts that they do have. It can still be respectable corn, but not really good corn, however that is going to require a hugely different weather pattern in the next 30 days to put some kernel depth in and keep the tipback to only 1-2 inches. We still have a much better corn crop potential than 2011 but it needs some pit stops to get to the finish line, and the gas tank is getting pretty empty. | |
