west central iowa | ABOUT A FOOT. The silage was about 10 feet deep. WE weighed every load going out of the pit. The farmer said there should be 3000 tons, but what we hauled home, weighed, and paid for was 2400 tons. The reason he had it was his son got killed in a car accident and they sold all the cows and calves shortly after that. Then it sat there. He wanted someone to buy the whole pile and not just a few loads here and there. When corn was high last year just like it is now, we thought $30.00/ton was a fair price. | |
