Did some tiling last August, planted a mix of clover, alfalfa, radish, and rye on it. About 100 spears of rye found enough moisture to sprout.
Was dry enough in spring, it didn't even come up then. Was a late April rain until it all sprouted, of course I was working it up then to plant corn....
