Subject: Drought year history

West Central Illinois

Apologize if someone has already posted this. I know I read it somewhere but can't remember where.

I was just looking at NASS numbers and wanted to see how bad other drought years were.

Take the five-year average U.S. corn yield preceding the droughts of '36, '83 and '88 (I threw out '34 on the early average cause it was a bad year too).

The '36, '83 and '88 yields were all 77% of those five year averages.

Our present 5 year average is 156. 77% of that would be 120
