North Central Illinois | I tend to agree Coup. Since you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about the insurance industry do you have any guess as to what percentage of farmers have crop insurance? There was a very informal survey taken over on the Crop Talk board last week and it was staggering the number of people on this board that do not have insurance. I thought all of the BTOs were using it and I think many are but I know of a couple that are not. Since they are trying to farm too much they are doing a poor job of it. With that comes low APHs with lower than average guarantees. Some of these guys opted to save the premium and go naked. The amount of the premium might have been most of the profit in the operation with some of the rents you hear. Just curious what you think. | |
