Near-north Ontario, French River | We see a little smut every year, dry years are by far worse and sweet corn seems much more susceptible than grain corn. I've seen sw corn fields with smut so bad the entire field was rejected by the processor.As someone has already stated , when 'harvested' at the proper time smut is considered a delicacy in some cultures. FWIW my culture isn't included in that list LOL. |
