southern MN | Could smell pollen in the air this morning. Got a 1/10 of an inch rain, and cooler temps today finally. That has the corn looking better from the road.
I think 1/2 my corn has good potential with the cooler temps even if it stays dry the next 10 days, 2 weeks. Been through that before and with the tile still stricling, there is some moisture down at the bottoms of the roots.
However,t he other 1/2 of my corn is going to lose slowly. No horrid disaster, but - it will go backwards.
Much of Minnesota had very heavy rain event or 2 in May, and the low ground is either stressed thin, or replanted late to overvome that issue. Not the gravel hills are burnt short. As the dry continues those hill tops get a little bigger....
We still can get to average yield, but as someone said, if this is the garden spot of the country, well, there are issues.
