Check out a 540rpm pto generator and run it almost at an idle with a 1000 pto rpm tractor. We didn't have power for 17 days in Feb. 09 and only had to add fuel once. Quieter than a regular generator, and it can be wired straight into the house with a plug. I think ours is a generac as well, made in the 80s. 12kw.
