Subject: Windshield wiping soybeans

North Central Kansas

Looking for you irrigators thoughts and experiences on windshield wipe irrigation. Question: If you want to apply an inch of water, is it better to start at the beginning of the field and apply the whole inch or start in the middle of the field and apply 1/2 inch both ways ending up back in the middle of the field. Either way it will take 2.6 days to get the inch total on the field. Then I use the same well to flood irrigate for three days before I get back to the pivot. Don't seem to get as good of yield on my pivot beans as I do my flood beans. Thanks
