I built a smoker out of a 60 gallon LP tank. I filled it full of water and used a metal blade in a sawzall (took more than one). after I built the smoker a friend of mine gave me a freezer burnt pork loin and I smoked it till it was crispy then threw the loin away. No issues after that with any propane odors.
