Middle TN
I know this hasn't been a good year to judge, but I am learning some things about our practices because of the predicament we're in.

I've inched populations up to 30,000+ this year on our better ground and fixed hybrids. Since it finally rained nearby and cooled off a little, I felt compelled to walk some corn. While many, many stalks will not have a harvestable ear, I did find a couple of ears, on stalks that had little competition, that had 18x44 kernels with no tipback. I couldn't believe it.

We lost some of our stand to a late freeze and where it was the worst, the corn did have an ear.

Is 30,000 wishful thinking in southern middle TN? 150 is considered a great crop here but I have done 200 a couple of times.

Fwiw, 111 day corn planted last of march. Pollinated before the heat and is currently denting prematurely.
