Last year sprayed at budding and got excellent control. If you have an early field of canola and it will be one of the only ones getting yellow, it will probably attract more CSPW at flower and spraying early won't control the latecomers. But if there are other field already in bloom, they will probably be attracted to those fields and you will be able to get away with spraying early.

I was out sweeping two areas of my XCEED canola (supposed to be better for CSPW, but its not!). One area was seeded about 17 days earlier than the other and was blooming while the other area was bolting. I found similar levels of CSPW per 10 sweeps, but not nearly the amount of beneficial insects in the bolting area. So that is something to take into consideration as well.

Matador/Silencer is labeled for control. Silencer is something like 4.32 an acre.
