We usually don't have stand problems either and were consistentlly raising 180-210 corn with minimal inputs. We only grow pioneer but have becks and some great lakes hybrids this year. Its the lack of water and lack of root systems more than the wind,I don't think 1018 is as good as it is supposed to be cause other varieties are holding their own in this drought and the 1018 looks weak. But it did last year too and held its own, on the other hand it stood last year all season
