Subject: Ofta this heat is oppressive

Rolla, ND
National weather service predicted highs, 80, 80, 83,82,81,85,84 with nightimes in the 60's (how's a guy supposed to sleep?) Couple good chances of rain too.

Sorry to those sweltering in heat and drought.

I just thought I'd point out that we often make the news when we are really cold and people think why would anyone live there and this is part of the reason.

It's also the reason why we tend to grow cool season crops. Corn is a sandy land crop, soybeans have come though since they tend to want to mature even if they don't get enough heat to do it. Unusual year this year because the corn might actually make knee high by the Fourth, most years it's closer to the ankles.

This is also why this area tends to love a big hot drought. While everyone else really takes a hit, we tend to get both a crop and a price.

All you have to do is go 100 miles south and the increased temps would really hurt our crops.

We tend to hate years that are cold and wet.
