The test is real. I am a former librarian for the Kansas Historical Society and have watched people freak over the 8th grade exam for years. The one that is even worse is the county exam for the period to teach in a country school. Once I saw those tests I knew and understood just how smart my aunt was who taught in the one room schools of KS in the teens and 20's. She did admit that in 8th grade you reviewed it all for the kids who took the test and especially for the kids that wanted to go on to the town H.S. Didn't pass the test, no H.S.
I also know my dad who dropped out of school in 7th grade could out math his kids until the day he died! | |
