Subject: RE: Rain / Flooding Pic's - Duluth Mn

Goodhue County MN
I believe it is an elevation drop of 800 feet from the top of the bluff down to the lake, how many miles that drop takes place. But it is a rather short difference. All the water from NE MN ends up in Lake Superior. I thought I heard, that in the Duluth area alone, there are 47 creeks and rivers that flow thru the city and into Lake Superior. Most of the time the are quiet, but some estimates I have heard are 12-18 inches in 24 hours. Lots of roads/streets flooded out or caved in. There was an amazing aerial shot of Lake superior and the brown plumes of the flood water in it. Luckily no one was killed. From what I understand the "tourist" areas of Duluth are ok, especially things like the areial lift bridge and canal park area. For those familar with that area, could you imagine what Gooseberry Falls looked like?

Here are the links to TV stations in Mlps/St. Paul they had pretty good coverage of this, with some very good pictures and video.
