My wife just got back from Italy a couple of weeks ago. Her Verizon smart phone worked fine there. I got the international calling plan for one month before she left. We mainly kept in touch by text, I think they were .50 cents to send and .05 cents to recive. As far as the charger I got her adapter at Radio Shack, just took the charger in and they fixed me up.
