J I Case got his start in the farm machinery business selling and building threshing machines and even some of the more basic machines that came before the threshing machine. This Wiki talks about JI Case and this first machines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerome_Case
I think Case quit making them in the late 1940's or early '50's.
