Nth New South Wales Australia | As Art replied a single electric wire with a 12v battery energizer will keep cattle out. We use electric fences here too keep out Kangaroos and livestock. We use the largest Gallager battery units that give us 7,000v on a 5 wire fence with 3 hot. No cow alive will stick its head through that. With a solar panel to charge the battery(N 70 size) they are good to go without having to change batteries every few days.
In your case a single wire that appears esp for cattle not used to electric fences will work wonders.
