have a top air 500 50ft boom raven 440 controler hyd pump holds 60-70 psi but when you turn on the boom pressure drops to 20-30 psi on the manifold?pressure stays at60plus on top gauge, just drops on manifold? cleaned the screens drained tank to check that valve on bottom of tank was opening completely/etc. am down to flow control or console, any ideas? thanks!

Without starting the engine, put the 440 in Manual and with the Master and Boom switches ON push and hold the INC/DEC switch up. You may hear the motorized control valve turn. Push the INC/DEC switch down, you should hear the control valve turn. If the control valve is working, the motor should run for about 8 seconds and then stop. Pushing the switch the other way should cause the motor to run 8 seconds in the opposite direction. If this does not happen then it is likely that the control valve needs attention.

You may find that your problem is with a starved pump or some other area that you have overlooked. We have had customers who say they can get good pressure indications when deadheaded but not when trying to spray. This is often due to a pump problem which may be the pump itself of the plumbing leading to it.
