Population seems to vary quite a bit depending on the type of ground you run because the little drive tire is bouncing or slipping most of the time. Seed depth is all over the place it will bury it for a while then lay some on top of the ground. Getting the population set is a total guessing game unless you have scales. The only advantage a 1990 drill offers over a rowcrop planter is they are cheaper. Devin

It sounds like you're lifting the drill frame, and either have the gauge wheels set too deep and/or don't have it adjusted to supply enough down-pressure on the openers.
