Black Hawk County, IA
Have been sidedressing both commercial and seed corn for over 25yrs. Always see benefit over cost + time on the seed. Guessing smaller root mass and less vigor main reasons. On commercial it depends on weather, temp., rainfall amount/timing. Most of our ground is good stuff, one has some lighter grd. there SD is a must. Switched SDing w/ NH3 to 28% about 10yrs w/ Hiniker 5000 nice combination, now have Hagie w/ NTB. Love the Hagie no time constraints, Miller works fine demoed 1 4yrs ago. Been able to drop total N to 120# on bean stubble and combine 200 - 240 bu. Tissue samples and Optrix sensors have helped allot on rates and timing. J
