Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Why were you using a yellow top deep cycle battery in an engine starting application that should have had a red top starting battery ?? The red top Optima is the engine starting battery, and is what has run so long for me in that application..
I dont understand this trend of putting the yellow top deep cycle battery in a starting application, thats not what they were designed for.
I see a lot of that in rigs with big accessory draw loads like rock crawler / Jeeps with a winch / many light / powerful sound system.
I suppose if these folks constantly use those high draw accessories to the point that they deep cycle the batteries, it may be the lesser evil, as a yellow top deep cycle can better stand constant deep cycling, compared to the same treatment done to a red top starting battery.
Even so I have never heard of a deep cycle battery(yellow top) living very long in the high instant current demands of a starting application. |
