Subject: RE: just plain wierd

Here in S MN we had 0 subsoil moisture in early April. Contractors were finding powder dry conditions to 6 feet deep. Then we had 2-5" in two days around May 1. Much of the second day ran off. Then nothing until Wed when many were hammered with 2-6" again. Surprisingly, the standing water was almost gone this morning. Replanted areas had hope. Well,.....not any more. Many had storms this morning, now another shot and tomorrow NWS is calling for another "training" event where those that receive rain could get 1-2" or more. That usually means more. On the upside, the crop that is not under water is looking good. Next we will be complaining that we need to spray corn and weeds are going to be beyond the normal window and it will be too soft in the field.

Many of us had beans in dry dirt 4 days ago and were hoping for a "nice shot". Nice shot is hard to define. It is hard to satisfy most of us. I would much rather have it in June and July than April and May. Sorry to hear of all of you without rain. Tomorrow (Sunday) night you can watch the weather channel and the flood warnings for S MN knowing that you don't have to drive far to be in different conditions. Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.
