Subject: strip till and furrow irrigation

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I can't think of anyone I know doing it (furrow irrigation and strip till) but I don't see why not. If you started with flat ground, you could make strips between last years corn stalks in the spring then use a HD cultivator to basically build ridges when the new crop was tall enough. Somewhat similar to ridgetill?

The best sequence might depend on your crop rotation. If 50/50 corn and beans you can just make strips in the spring right down the top of last years beans on top of a ridge. There are a number of different possibilities depending on your rotation and how tall of a mound you need to irrigate.
