Northern Iowa
Just finished our first spring planting of corn tonight into strips and love the advantages up to this point. Better water infiltration after heavy rains, less erosion and consistent seed bed without any compaction are great advantages compared to the conventional tillage we are used to. Rtk guidance is a must. Get a machine that is versatile and that you can adjust with varying conditions. Im partial to the krause gladiator. Have everyone involved in your operation committed to make it go. Biggest Key to making it work from what I've seen this spring is having an elevated berm to plant into in the spring. Doesn't work well if your planting into a trench. We'll see how things go the rest of the year as the crop isn't in the bin but I'm very excited about how things have went so far.
