Subject: Re: JD 1760 Corn Planter

N/E Iowa
We have had ours since 1997.... Pulled it with a 4440, then in 2002 it's been on the 7810 mfd. Vac planter, 3 bus hoppers, sharktooth row cleaners. They are VERY simple planter. Yes it "sort of" sucks getting out of the cab to fold up, but it's something you can live with. IF you want to add single disk openerrs for fertilizer you can't. Thats the reason i'm going to upgrade to a good used 1770 nt, with single disk fert. We run totally tubular at 5 gallons per acre in furrow.

(1) simple to operate
(2) 140 hp to pull it (could run less hp if you dont have a vac planter)
(3) I would look for the xp row units, alot stronger than the Max emerge. Both good units though.
