Minimize the battle the best you can. I think you are on the right track. Give reasonable portions and I would certainly give her a full 45 minutes to eat it, especially if the rest of the family leaves the table and goes elsewhere. She will get tired of being alone after a while. Since she is probably doing it for attention. When the 45 minutes is up, very non confrontational like come pickup the plate and put it in the fridge. Tell her she can finish it a breakfast. "We're not going to waste this good food." End of story. Then follow through. Except if it is a lot left over I would make that be her breakfast. No cereal after.
