You should wait until 3 weeks after weaning to give them the shot. Or pull the bull out 3 weeks before weaning. The Lut doesn't work if they are only bred a week or so. I know this from experience. Have had 3 heifers calve a 14-16 months old. 1 we pulled, 1 the vet pulled , and 1 c-section. Ended up with both mom and calf alive all 3 times but don't want anymore. The first one was before we started using Lut. The second was because we used the Lut the day of weaning and she was just bred. The third time the Lut must not have worked. Just trying to help.
