We had a Wilrich 2500 with the extra shank mounting bar in front and the shanks rearranged that had very good clearance. If you happen to find one with the modification or can cheaply add the extra row, you will be impressed. I think the 3400 had pretty good clearance as well.

I do like my 1400 Deutz Allis Chiselvator. Don't let the reputation of the 1300 spoil that option for you. The 1300 and earlier were good stalk rakes, they were designed with an entirely different farming method in mind.
