thanks for your comments Phil. My first objective was to make a girlie operation for my wife my nieces and my own back. I felt that a parlor with arm take off was the best ergonomical choice. I am proven right so far even if our crew had had to learn proper technique to avoid injury from kicking cows. We did visit a lot of operations before making our choice. There is 35 000 dairy cows in Franklin county VT just on the other side in a spread of lest than 50 km of us. Parallel are i think safer but the lifting of that 2 or 3 or 4 kg milking unit over and over was not an option.
I bought the parlor used in an auction in Ohio. It has a computorize system that we are still learning to use but that is pretty amazing. The only drawback so far is the fact that it did cost too much to reinstall the parlor. I think our dealer has had to get a crash course in herringbone parlor and that i have paid a good part of his lessons.
