southern MN | I assumed that was some humor, but the fellas bring up a good point.
Farming is about gathering assets and living poorly as you start out.
Might want to have the discussion with the wife, buy 20 acres now & have an asset bringing you income; or build a cheap house now you can't afford and have no way to pay for. Which will make you all happier when you are 40?
There's a whole book of situations and considerations and different angles, I'll leave it at that short bit - which doesn't cover it, but perhaps you can build from that. :)
