| i have a debit card that is through my bank but my bank gets the cards through Visa, so if u run it through as a credit card instead of a debit card you are given Visas fraud protection for those purchases. and it also has another fraud protection that they call shazam.
you've got it backwards, Shazam is the card vendor who owns the BIN number or IIN(Bank Identification Number/Issuer Identification Number) they are the card provider and processor i.e. your local bank has a contract with shazam...... VISA or Mastercard is essentially the platform that the bank choose to use, Shazam offers both. But yeah...shazam offers fraud protection.
The larger regional banks own their own BIN numbers and do the processing themselves. | |
