west central Iowa | My condolences to nosworc, its been 26 years since my Dad died and I still stop and think, now how would Dad have done this. I turned 50 last fall and I lived through shelling a crib of ear corn today hopefully the last one I'll ever do. I had a couple jack and cokes at the restaurant and I'm working on a beer now, but tomorrow could be bad. When we scooped out the bottom I took lots of breaks, but I still got my side done ahead of my 20 year old son. He said there was more corn in his half. And then when got done shelling one of the bulls decided to try to visit the cows a little early and when I tried to get him back in with the 4 wheeler he took out the corner and brace post instead of going through the gate. So we had to dig two stubs by hand and rebuild the corner. We actually got some video of shelling for you guys that are feeling nostalgic. Will try and post later. Anybody want to buy a JD sheller? | |
